My love and condolences to the family.
Shirley was a wonderful loving mother and friend. My memories of Shirley begin over fifty years ago. We lived three doors down from the Kays, and we saw one another on a daily basis. Rick, was my first boyfriend. When we were in third grade, I remember, Rick and Shirley walking hand in hand to our house to deliver a box Valentine's Day chocolates. Another time, she came with a bandaide to patch up my head from a rock Rick had thrown at me! There was never a dull moment with the any of the Kays!
Everyday, Shirley was part of my life. Most of the children on the block spent the majority of their time at the Kays. Playing baseball in the street. Football in the backyard. Flashlight tag at night. Shirley was like a second mother to us all. She was always happy and cheerful, welcoming us all into her home and heart.
Love to you all,
