Lee Nemnich
Russ and I were Muscoy friends through elementary school.
We met up again when we were in the Navy Reserves together.
I think I might owe him my life. He worked in the Reserve office.
I had signed up for HeavyEquipment Mechanic school while Russ was away for training. When he returned he took me aside and asked what I was doing!
Why? Seems like I didn’t know what I was in for. He took me into the office and showed me my file. They had me set up for Jungle Warfare Training when I got out of school. I was headed to Vietnam to clear forward airstrips in the jungle with a M-16 over my shoulder while working on equipment. What can I do Russ!? Refuse the school! I did. They sent me to a ship moving supplies and marines back and forth to Nam. When I was in the Philippines walking down the back street there was Russ! I gave him a big hug and thanked him.
RIP
