Russell Wayne Atwood's Obituary
Russell Atwood, 70, of San Bernardino, California, passed away on March 28, 2025, after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer. He was born on November 2, 1954, in Mineral Wells, Texas.
Russell spent his early childhood in England with his mother and sister before moving to Yardville, New Jersey, where he lived until 1991, when he relocated to Southern California with his family. He met the love of his life, Cathy, in 2nd grade, at Yardville School, and was a proud graduate of Hamilton High School East, Class of 1972.
A man of many talents, Russell was an avid motorcycle rider, a master tinkerer, and an excellent truck driver, carpenter, and salesman. He had a passion for westerns, animals, card games, and, most of all, spending time with his family. Known for his honesty and relentless spirit, he had a gift for making those around him smile. His presence will be deeply missed, especially by those who loved him most.
Russell was predeceased by his father, Kenneth Atwood of Robbinsville, New Jersey, and his mother, Joyce Atwood of Yardville, New Jersey. He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Cathy (Bartle) Atwood; his three children and their spouses: Michele Atwood and her spouse, Mary Rearick, of Highland, CA; Matthew Atwood and his spouse, Joyce, of Hesperia, CA; and Megan Cooper and her spouse, Joshua, of Beaumont, CA. He also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren: Hailey, Noah, Jonathan, and Maverick, along with his sister, Beverley Senf of Yardville, New Jersey, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews whom he dearly loved.
His family and friends will carry his memory in their hearts forever.
The family is holding a private service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to an animal rescue of your choice.
