PAUL LOUIS KARDOS's Obituary
Paul L. Kardos, 60, passed away peacefully with his wife at his side Monday June 25th 2007. Born in Miami Fl, Paul came to California in 1977. He was preceded in death by both parents and brother Zoltan Kara. Paul held a Bachelors Degree in Music and a Masters of Education, both from the University of Nevada at Reno. As Professor of Music and Director of Bands at San Bernardino Valley College for 26 years, he founded and directed the San Bernardino Community Concert Band, The All America Academic Dixie and Swing Band, The “Kicks” Jazz Ensemble, Saxophone Christmas and numerous small ensembles. As a professional saxophonist, Paul performed with the Palm Springs Symphony, The San Bernardino Civic Light Opera, the West End Opera Company and the Ted Herman Orchestra. His professional saxophone ensemble, The Dahlia Arts Sax Quartet, performed for many social, civic and private functions throughout the Inland Empire. Paul was a vocal champion of music education and believed in lifelong participation in the Arts. Following his retirement from SBVC Paul, along with his wife Lorraine founded the Main Street Community Band, which will continue on as his musical legacy in the Inland Valley area. Paul is survived by his wife of 29 years Lorraine; his brother Paul Kardos of Springfield, MA; nephews Christopher Kardos of Worcestershire, MA, Oliver Kardos of Albany, NY; Brad Kara of Charlotte, NC; niece Cynthia Kara Garcia of Fort Mills, SC and many friends. A celebration of Paul’s life will be held Saturday June 30th at 10am at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel 1299 E. Highland Ave. San Bernardino, CA 92404.
