Bobbi Guy
To the family of Patrick, my condolences go out to you on the sudden loss Of Pat. I first dealt wtih Patrick over the phone for quite some time, he was new to the Lottery and had been given my name as the "go to" person to assist with questions on investigations. He was very appreciative of my help and very pleasant to talk to. After finally meeting him in person at one of their trainings in Sacramento, we became fast friends. From then on, he would call for assistance but always made the phone call personal asking about me and my kids and what was new in my life. He never took my help for granted and always left the phone call with "Hey - thank you so much and I'll buy ya a beer next time I'm in Sacramento" and he always came through!! Over the years, our friendship was mostly over the phone but whenever he was in town for more than a day or two, he would insist on meeting up for a few drinks which usually led into dinner at Cattlemens. I always enjoyed hanging out with him "shooting the shit" about work and life. Life always included Janice and all the kids, I would get updates on what everyone was doing and enjoyed the times we got to personally catch up. Patrick made it very clear that his family was extremely important to him!! For years I called him "Pat" like most did but one night out we were talking about names (I hate mine so somehow that came up being that I am female with more of a guy's name) and he mentioned to me that he didn't like Patrick growing up but as he got older - he preferred it. From that point on, I called him Patrick. I regret that the last time he called to meet in Sacramento, I had to decline because my Mother had recently undergone surgery and she was not doing well. Patrick totally understood and was very sympathetic, we promised to hook up next time but next time did not come for us. I am so happy that I saved his last voicemail message he left me, I don't know why I did but I did and it has brought me comfort. I would like to say that I have been to more funerals/memorials than I would like to attend but Patrick's was the 1st I have ever been too where so many wanted to speak but the time ran out. I enjoyed hearing all the stories that were humorous which helped to take away the sadness. It was obvious he was loved, respected and admired by all. He surely left a void in the Lottery family and he will be forever missed!!! Like Janice said, he was always a true Gentlemen!!
Miss you Patrick
