Dear Nancy and Steve,
I met Myra at Morton High School in Cicero, Illinois in 1938 and found one of the brightest and nicest friends one could ask for. Our group of friends grew up, married and scattered all over the US but we never lost touch. And then most fortuitously in 2003 Myra and Milada and I took a trip to Czechoslovakia. Despite some mishaps we thoroughly enjoyed being together and the beautiful cities and countryside of our parents and grandparents. And then there was e-mail and old reminiscences. I shall miss her terribly. As I know you must be sadly dealing with your grievously unexpected loss.

Nancy, Steve and Mom,
Myra – her life touched us all in many ways. My fondest memory of her was family gatherings. She was always cheerful, happy and a bright star to us all.
When my brother and I were young we had many fun filled occasions to visit and play in the pool with carefree abandoned.
Myra also put great trust in me by allowing me to take Nancy roller-skating and other fun activities… just us two.
A remarkable lady who lived with Gods goodness and was a source of happiness and gentle guidance to me. She rests now in Gods house with Hank in peace and happiness.

Dearest Nancy and Steve, it seems like just yesterday I recall you visiting your mom/mother in-law and were doing yard work, visiting and swimming in the warm sun. Life is so fragile and our moms so much our lifes. I pray that your sadness will subside knowing that she is at peace. I know the two of you are so strong and even stronger together. I just wanted to let the family know that we all still remember her as the wonderful director of "Kiddie Karousel" that was held at the Highland Congretational Church. Both my son, Bryan, & daughter, Colleen,attended this great pre-school program in the late 60's and early 70's. Mrs. Markus was very creative and a warm, caring teacher. We always wondered what she was doing after the program moved elsewhere. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. Although we didn't get to meet all of her family, we know her loving and kind ways will live on in all of you.
