Mr. Peters honored us often with his visits to the Luque Community Center in the Colton and we loved having him. Quick with a smile and a big hug, he always made my day. He was a genuinely kind and generous man, with great compassion for others. He made everyone feel special. No matter who you were, who else was around or how many people were trying to visit with him, he had a way of making you feel that you were the only person who mattered to him in that moment. I have tried every day since our first meeting to be that for people I meet. To me he was and will always, Mr. Peters, because this is how I was taught to show respect to someone of his distinction. So I just wanted to say, “Thank you Mr. Peters, for inspiring me. I am a better person for knowing you.”
