I worked at Station 5 in the late 60's and Lyndon worked in the fire dept shops behind the station. I remember him as a gentle man, who quietly went about his work. He would always stop what he was doing to help or answer a question. My condolences to his family.##imported-begin##John Hull##imported-end##
Lyn and I came to work on the Fire Dept. on the same day in 1961.I first got to know him in the one car stall that was the shop at Central, one stall, 2 Mechanics and lots of old equipment.Lyn showed me how the External Pushrods on the 631A were lubed and showed me the oil pressure gauge- just oil circulating in a glass bowl, I helped?? in the shop at new St. 5 and really got to know him well.I once asked him about his name sake from Texas,Lyndon Johnson, he set me straight in 2 seconds, LBJ was from a nearby county and not too popular with the working people.Lyn was a very generous and thoughtful man who liked old cars and old friends.##imported-begin##John Terry##imported-end##
I worked with Lyndon in the shop at station five during the late 60s and early 70s. I was a firefighter but I worked out there as often as I could. Lyndon was a pleasure to be around. His quiet demeanor was in sharp contrast to "Pep" Richardson, the chief mechanic. I tried to locate Lydon to say hello in 2001 or 2002 when I visited from my home in Ohio but was unable to locate him. It's my loss I couldn't find him to say "Hello, old friend" once again. I left the fire service in 1973 but whenever I was in San Bernardino for a visit, I always stopped in at the shop to see him. He was a great guy! Jack Tilley##imported-begin##Jack E.
