As a very young child in elementary school, I remember Johnny as the owner of Johnny’s Market.
He was friends with our parents, Michael and Dolores DeBellis and a very dear friend to my cousin Pasquale (Sonny Boy).
What stuck out to me at that young age was how Johnny moved with such intention. He had what people in the sporting world call “hustle.”
At the store he seemed to be everywhere. And watching him bagging groceries at lightning speed was impressive.
My guess is that John was 100% committed to everything he did or touched, and reminds us that life without commitment is not a complete life.
He remained a dear friend to my cousin for his entire life.
May he rest in peace.
