James Aloysius Haubner's Obituary
James Aloysius Haubner (Jim), 86, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to many, passed into Heavenly eternity on Tuesday, August 1, 2023.
Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on July 7, 1937, and continued living there until he joined the Air Force. Preceded in death by his parents Frank and Julia, and siblings Frank Jr., Bobbie, and Rosemary Flynn. Survived by his wife of 63 years, Angie, their children, Jim Jr., Teri Lopez (Ruben), Mike (Jennifer), Cathy Hollifield (Rex), Diane Rhoades (Rod), 18 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. He transferred to Norton Air Force Base in 1958, where he met and married the love of his life, Angie Mercado. From the time they were introduced in a Catholic bowling league, they were inseparable. He enjoyed many years of bowling, was an amazing pool shark, loved golfing with his kids and friends, and enjoyed many poker nights with his family and friends. His love of golf and pool was only surpassed by his dedication to the Green Bay Packers! 50+ years of his life was devoted to St. Adelaide’s Church and the Knights of Columbus #4488 in San Bernardino, where he developed many enduring friendships. He was a devout Catholic and could be heard every Sunday at St. Adelaide’s Church, singing at the top of his lungs. Over the many years as a parishioner, he served as an usher during mass, ran booths at the carnival and called bingo regularly. He and mom were diligent about calling and singing happy birthday to everyone in the family on their day, and he led the vocals every Thanksgiving, singing his favorite German folk song with his grandchildren!
For the better part of his life, he worked as a life insurance salesman. His extended family and friends could always count on him to be there for them in their time of need and provide advice and direction, as well as a shoulder to cry on.
He left a legacy of love and respect for everyone he met. Although he had so many kids, grandkids, and great grandkids, he managed to attend more sporting and school events than anyone could ever imagine! With Angie by his side, there were no greater cheerleaders in the stands and always sharing positive words of encouragement, marked with enthusiasm and pride!
On behalf of our entire family, we wish to extend our heart felt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Redlands Community Hospital. They are an unbelievably talented and warm group of professionals.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, August 22nd, 10:30am (Rosary), followed by mass at 11:00am. at St. Adelaide’s Church, 27457 Base Line St, Highland, CA 92346. Reception info to follow.
