I was bound in the mire, with darkness all about.
With no hope, no joy, filled with bitterness and doubt.
Looking up, I knelt to pray, crying “Lord save my life!”
Then a miracle in the night, when Jesus gave me light.
Jesus gave me light. He gave life and peace of mind.
Though my sins were countless, I left that life behind.
Jesus came in to my heart and took away the night.
Is there any wonder that I rejoice, Jesus gave me light.
Though sometimes the way is weary and there is grief.
But my Lord is always with me and He’s given me belief.
Though I face life’s painful hardships and all of its strife,
Praise God for His wondrous grace, Jesus gives me light.
I’d rather live in a shanty with God, than mansions of gold.
This world is only fleeting. Hallelujah! Heaven is my goal.
Thank You, Lord for the hour, when I found love’s delight.
Lord, let me spread Your majestic Word, Jesus is the Light.
