Such a privilege to share life and work with Jerri, working together at the School of Theology! I seldom think of Jerri without remembering this statement, "I always like to sing (she was thinking of hymns and praise songs) in the morning when I get up--it just sorts of "gets my soul going." That got me singing in the morning, too--and I am still doing that! And I so admired her for learning Spanish, and then beginning a whole new "career" in Mexico when the School of Theology no longer existed. She was a great example of thinking "Now what CAN I be doing?" instead of "Well, I CAN'T DO this or that and just quit doing anything". I look forward to long conversations in heaven. Gwen Martin

I met Jerri soon after her husband Chuck departed. Since she was a widow, she was looking for a new ministry focus. She joined Women's Ministry Team at the International School of Theology and I was so privileged to be around her! I was in my 30's and Jerri was in her 50's (I think). She was so rooted in the Lord and I longed for that. I remember one time telling Jerri how blessed I felt to be around her and how I longed for the spiritual maturity I saw in her. Jerri said, "Luci, I appreciate your admiration - but I never wanted to single at this age!" -- I appreciated her honesty. While grieving and accepting her new life, she served with us, discipled students, finished her master's degree and then went on to serve with the Southern Baptists. Jerri was a faithful friend and intercessor and I often called or texted her up until the last month of her earthly life. I will miss her but know she is joyfully reunited with the Lord and Chuck in heaven! Thank you, Jerri for all you have deposited in me and in the kingdom!

I lived with Jerri in her house in San Bernardino while engaged to be married. She offered to let me live with her having never met me- radical hospitality. She was my accountability partner for a couple of years and her Godly wisdom and advice helped me find my footing as a new bride. She continued to support us and was one of my key intercessors until the day she graduated to heaven. Jerri, you have done a beautiful thing for your Lord, whom you love with all your heart. Enjoy being in His presence! See you when I get there!

I have many special memories of Jerri. Joe and I were in her Sunday School class for many year especially when Chuck taught the class so many years ago. She was such a dear lady. I remember a Sunday School social at her lovely home. She is now in heaven with her dear Chuck and my wonderful Joe. Since I now live in Virginia, I will not be able to attend her Celebration of Life. Cyndi Steele

I remember welcoming Jerri in our Younkman family. She was friendly, comfortable and truly a bright light addition to our family. Have followed the wonderful family she and Chuck raised. She continued to work shining her light, all her life. She certainly will be missed by many. Sandra
