We came to know Bettie through my sister Jeanine Hallet and her husband Joe, who were old friends of the Grim boys. They moved up to Crescent City and when they would come down to visit we would always try to get together with Bettie and the "gang".
My mother Mary Guidry had a few years on Bettie, and she was always so sweet and attentive to her, being her little sweet self. We went to lunch at Lucy's, one of her favorites I believe. Mike would call and invite us to meet up with them... so thoughtful. Mike invited Mom and I up to their house for dinner with Bettie and Gregg and we had a nice time. Mom was so tickled, and again Bettie would fuss over Mom.

We had a few adventures... we took Bettie to a taping of Jeopardy one year, then the next year we took Bettie and Debbie to see a taping of Wheel of Fortune. The announcer Johnny Gilbert was so nice... he came over and talked with us for quite a while during a break and made us feel quite special. Went out for a nice meal afterwards. Only wish we had been able to get in a few more adventures.

We will miss Bettie and her witty sense of humor and smile, her warm heart, and so much more...

Betty was our neighbor & good friend for 22 1/2 years. We have "so many" wonderful memories of her! She was truly a "Mom" to all who knew her. She was a generous hostess to all and you were always welcome to stop by her home at "anytime." She loved playing games and taught most of her friends (including myself) to play "Rummy K". That seemed to be her favorite and we played many times together over the years. She always included us in her family's Birthdays, Anniversary's, Holidays & special celebrations. Everyone was treated like "family" that entered her home.

Betty watched out over the whole neighborhood, and kept in contact with all the neighbors. She knew no strangers. We always knew if our boys were up to something when we were gone, Betty would be watching and let us know when we got home what they were up too. We could go away, knowing they were being watched.....even though they thought they were home alone. ;-)

Not too long after we moved from San Bernardino, I picked her up to come stay the night with us and show her where we lived. Still new the area myself, we ventured out for a drive to Julian, since she told me she'd never been there. Well, I ended up taking a wrong turn along the way and we got lost. All of a sudden, I realized we were in the complete opposite direction of where we had planned on going. Now very confused, I said to her "we are in Hemet?". Betty looked at me and said "Well, I've always wanted to go to Hemet". We both burst out laughing and we continued to laugh about that one for years. She was truly a "go with the flow" kind of person and we ended up having a nice lunch in Hemet that day.

I took my granddaughter by her home and surprised her a few years ago around the Holidays. She always had the house looking cozy and festive. My granddaughter still talks about that "Betty" lady and mentioned that we should go visit her again. She took to her right away, that's was just the kind of person she was!

Betty, we love you and will miss you. Guess you will be having a "glorious" Christmas this year in Heaven. Grateful for the assurance that we will one day meet again!
