BAXTER KIRKLEY's Obituary
Baxter “Kirk” Kirkley, 80, a long time resident of Highland passed away at home on September 9, 2009. He was born in Deport, Texas to John and Verda Kirkley, one of 3 children. He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Betty Kirkley.
Kirk retired from Bekins Moving and Storage, where he worked for 39 years, after which he was a dutiful volunteer at the Jerry L. Pettis VA Hospital in Loma Linda for 17 years. He was a member of the Improved Order of Redman and the Degree of Pocahontas. He enjoyed his volunteer work and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his sister Diann Granlund (Bruce); his children: Linda Gleason (Gene), Dan Kirkley (Brenda), Mike Kirkley (Marta), Timothy Kirkley (Glenda), James Kirkley (Pricilla), Lesley Kirkley and Vickie Greswit (John); his grandchildren: Amy Cortez (Brian), Heather Cox (Patrick), Robyn Miller (Matt), Alisha Schwartz (Jason), Chris Kirkley, Ian Kirkley, Caitlin Kirkley, Amanda Kirkley, Stephen Kirkley, and Leanne Perrault; his great-grandchildren: Austin, Sky, Paige, Madison, Ellis, Brooklyn, and Sutton.
Memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Ave., San Bernardino. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
