Aunt Alice was always like our second mother. Being in her house was just like being home. When she moved from Illinois, it was like she took Christmas with her. It was never the same again. She was the kindest, sweetest, most gentle person I ever knew. She never had a mean or harsh word toward anyone. She always looked to the good side of people, always wanted you to see another side, to "walk in their shoes" before you said an unkind word. Alice was, above all, selfless. She always put anyone and everyone before her own needs and wants.
I know that my mother, her sister, will now have a big void in her life and her heart. I don't think I've ever seen two sisters that were so close for their whole life. I always loved to hear the stories of the two of them when they were growing up. They argued over bobby sox. Mom even got her husband by pretending to be Alice when Dad called to ask Alice out. Thank God she did. And I'm sure Alice was a good sport about it, too. I was always proud to have Aunt Alice for an aunt and when I talked about her, which I did many, many times, I'm sure my chest would puff up each and every time. I was proud to be related to such a person.
I wish I could be with our family when they pay their final respects. I will be paying my respects to this wonderful woman for the rest of my life. I cannot help but feel that she is finally at peace and without pain.
Alice was but a moment on earth, but forever in our hearts. I think the Lord has a special place in Heaven for such a special person.
I'll love you always, Aunt Alice.##imported-begin##Debra A. Evans##imported-end##
