43, of Highland, CA passed away at his home, Saturday February 1st.
Willie was born May 31, 1970 in Hollywood, CA to Willie “Sunny” and Cora “Renee” Tarts. Willie grew up in Los Angeles, with childhood summers spent in Buffalo, NY with his sister and cousins. He attended International Children’s School where he enjoyed playing basketball and met lifelong friends, he graduated from Los Angeles High School. Willie valued knowledge and learning and furthered his education by attending Santa Monica College; he obtained his Associate in Arts, Liberal Arts degree at Mt. San Antonio College; Bachelor of Arts, English degree at Cal Poly Pomona; and finally his Master of Information Technology Degree from American InterContinental University. He would later attend Valley College in San Bernardino where he would study both work and hobby subjects to keep his mind fresh and always learning. Willie began working at East Valley Water District in 2006 first as a Meter Service Worker and finally putting his IT Degree to work and filled the position of Information Technician. While he was a Meter Service Worker he obtained his Water Distribution Operator Grade D3 certificate, and Water Treatment Operator Grade T2 certificate. In his off-time from school and work he was a freelance writer for Highland Community News, became a Public Notary, and at the time of his death was writing his version of the great American novel. Although Willie is now gone, he will be remembered for his love of family and friends, quick wit, sense of humor, and the brightest smile a man could have.
Willie married Becky (Ramirez) Tarts on June 18, 2006. Together they built a home for their son Alexander in San Bernardino and then Highland. As a family they enjoyed going to movies, watching live theatre, taking trips to destinations never traveled, and frequented zoos, aquariums, and theme parks in Southern California. Although Willie was a SoCal native and would never dream of living anywhere else he did enjoy the crispness of San Francisco and took several trips there with Becky.
Those left to remember the life of Willie Tarts, are his wife Becky and son Alexander Joe “A.J.” of Highland; father Willie “Sunny” Tarts of Charlotte, NC; mother and step-father Willis and Cora “Renee” Tarts-James of Detroit, MI; his grandparents Douglas and Cora Coleman of Los Angeles; sister Cynthia Tarts of Charlotte; sister-in-law Billie Malesker of Dahinda, IL; brother Maurice Tarts of Reistertown, MD; and youngest sister Callie Tarts also of Reistertown, MD. Also his nieces and nephews: Cymone Samuel, Morganne Malesker, Dalyn Tarts-Samuel, Jadyn & Reagen Malesker, Cyerra Brown, Christian Hiley, Jacob Tarts, and Noah DeBellotte. He will be remembered by lots of friends and family members too.
The family has been receiving visitors at their home in Highland and will continue reliving memories with loved ones for all the ages.
Donations are suggested to the family to be used for immediate funeral needs and later donated to the American Cancer Society, Spirit of Hope Church, and ASPCA, three funds close to Willie and his family’s heart.
