Mr William R Stewart's Obituary
Bill Stewart, 78, passed away peacefully at home while waiting to go out for “date night” with his new wife, Kanya. .
Bill was born in Oswego, New York the third in a family of four to Ross and Helen Stewart. He moved frequently as a child due to his father’s gypsy spirit. Over 12 years he attended 16 schools receiving high marks at each. While he lived all over the United States, Bill considered California to be his home.
Bill received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Physics from San Jose State University in 1966 after almost 7 years of school and several life changing events. He was drafted into the army and also served in the reserves. He married Sheila in March of 1963 having met her while working at Ryan Aeronautical in San Diego, CA. They moved to Sunnyvale where Bill utilized his skills in telemetry at Lockheed. In December of 1963, daughter Kimberly was born, so Bill studied and fed a baby at the same time. Bill and Sheila later moved to San Bernardino and opened Holiday Trailer Sales where Bill had many return customers over more than 30 years in business. In 1968, son Todd was born. As the kids grew, Bill took the family on several motorhome trips and was also awarded several trips to different countries and exotic places for his successes in the RV industry. Bill continued working in the RV industry selling boats into his 70’s.
Sheila passed away in 2008, but Bill was the eternal optimist and lived life to the fullest…always saying, “It’s better than the alternative.” In more recent years, Bill and his new wife traveled frequently throughout the US making trips to Niagara Falls, the Grand Canyon, and the Florida Keys.
Bill will be remembered as a realist, a doer, and most importantly as dedicated and supportive brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed by all who loved him. Bill is survived by his sisters Rachel and Roberta; wife, Kanya; his children Kim and Todd, grandchildren Stephanie, Ryan, Timothy and Amanda.
