Mr Virgil Lewis Malter's Obituary
Virgil Lewis Malter passed away on April 17th, 2017. He was born in Kremlin, Oklahoma to Oliver and Mary Malter on 19 August 1928. He had one brother Robert, now deceased. Virgil had two boys, Larry and Thomas and has five grandchildren, all boys. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1950. Because of the Korean War he enlisted in the US Air Force. He was honorably discharged at Sembach Air Base, Germany in 1954. He remained there as a Civil Servant. He met and married Gertraud Christa Bekeschus in October 1955. He joined the Air Force Audit Agency in 1956 and served as Office Chief at audit offices in Germany and Italy. In 1965, he returned to the United States. He moved with the Air Force Audit Agency to Norton Air Force Base in California. He served as Director of Professional Services, Director of Operations and as Assistant Auditor General for World-Wide Audits. He retired from the Senior Executive Service in 1984. He was an active volunteer as an Ombudsman and member of the San Bernardino Medical Center Auxiliary. Visitation will be held on May 11th at the Bobbitt Memorial Chapel 1299 East Highland Ave, San Bernardino, CA 92404 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. The funeral will also be held at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel on Friday May 12th starting at 10am. The burial will be held at the Riverside National Cemetery 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, CA 92518 at 11:45am.
