VICTOR NEWELL MENELEY's Obituary
Victor Newell Meneley passed away on December 18, 2007 in Lake Arrowhead, CA. with his family at his side. Vick was born on June 29, 1913 in Atchinson, KS. moving to San Bernardino, CA. with his family in 1919. He graduated from San Bernardino HS where he met his future wife, Vivian Ely. After marriage in 1936 they moved to Los Angeles where Vick began his career as a printer. With the inception of WWII he felt compelled to serve his country enlisting in the Marine Corps and fighting with the 4th Division on Iwo Jima. After his discharge he resumed his printing career and relocated to Whittier, CA. with his wife and new son. While living in Whittier, Vick became active with the Boy Scouts for over fifteen years in various adult leadership capacities and receiving the Silver Beaver Award. After retirement in 1975 he and Vivian moved to Crestline, CA. where they became very active in the community. Vick was a charter member of the Rim of the World VFW Post 9624, later named after him in 2006 and started the annual Memorial Day service held at Lake Gregory. He was twice past master of the Rim of the World Masonic Lodge No. 711 F&AM as well as a member of the San Bernardino Scottish Rite and the recipient of the Hiram Award in 1986. Vick was a 30 year member of the Crestline Community Presbyterian Church and an Elder. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Vivian in 2002 and is survived by his son, Victor V. Meneley (Mary) and two grandchildren, David and Jana. Services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, December 29th at Crestline Community Presbyterian Church with interment at Riverside National Cemetery on Monday, December 31st at 11:15 a.m.
