Vern and Thelma were good friends, who often provided me with dinner during my bachelor days. When I needed help with computer problems, Vern would rescue me. Any show Thelma was in, he would videotape it. I still have a number of those. Vern served his country with honor in the U.S. Airforce. He was a devoted husband and conducted himself in a morally correct way. Vaya con Dios, my friend.

Vern is my first cousin on my father's side. His mom was my dad's sister. Sadly, I don't have a lot of memories growing up as he was a few years older than me. And because he lived so far away, I had little opportunity to know him better as an adult. I send my sincerest condolences to his sister and brother and all his other family who I am sure will miss him greatly.
