Mr Thomas D. Baker's Obituary
Thomas D. Baker, 68, of San Bernardino, CA passed away on Monday, August 31, 2015, in San Bernardino. Tom is survived by his former wife, Lydia, son, David, daughter in law, Shannon, grandson, Ethan and his lifelong friend, Jim Hamlin. Tom is a Veteran who served honorably in the U.S. Army as Sgt. stationed in Okinawa during the Vietnam War. He went on to join the San Bernardino Police Dept. where he retired as a Detective. Tom was presented with the We-Tip’s Law Enforcement’s Officer of the Year Award for his outstanding investigative work. He is most remembered for his many years of coaching baseball in the San Bernardino School District. He served as an assistant baseball coach at San Bernardino High School from 1994 to 1997. Tom was an assistant coach for the Boys’ softball team at Golden Valley Middle School and was “The Voice of the Knights” from 1992 to 2011.
Interment will be private at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, California after the Memorial Services.
