Mrs Sue Griggs' Obituary
Sue Griggs, 78, passed away in San Bernardino, CA on November 26, 2015. Originally from Tennessee, Sue had lived in the Inland Empire for almost 50 years. She worked as an Operations Trainer in the banking industry for thirty years.
She was preceded in death by her son Michael Griggs
She is survived by Ray, her husband of 61 years. Also surviving her are her children Jennifer (Stephen) Clark and Randy Griggs; her sister Aletha Ivey, her brothers David and Joseph Robinson along with her four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Wanda Sue Robinson (Sue) was born June 9, 1937 to Weldon and Mabel Robinson, at home, near Bruceton, Tennessee. Her slightly older sister, Aletha Robinson Ivey, was an outstanding student and beauty. Sue was also a great beauty, but preferred the pursuits of rollerskating, cheerleading, basketball dribbling and hunting with her .22. Her brother David arrived when she was about 12, then her baby brother Joe showed up when she was 18. They brought much enjoyment to her life.
Sue met Ray Griggs while working at the local swimming pool snack stand. He was a football player for the cross town rival, Camden Lions. She was a cheerleader for the Bruceton Tigers. He won her heart and they eloped when they were both 17. Ray joined the Air Force when they graduated from high school and the two headed West, arriving at March AFB in Riverside, CA in 1956. Over the next 5 years, Michael, Jennifer and Randy were born.
Sue was created to be the world's greatest wife and mom. She could make something out of nothing in no time and it was always excellent. She was an expert seamstress, cook, gospel piano player, medical tech, vet tech, camping director, referee, and judge. This was in addition to working full time at Bank of America for many years. To know her, truly was to love her. To find her one just entered a room and listened for the laughter, then followed it to the light in the center.
Life was not always easy for her, it seldom is for anyone, but early in her life she put her faith in Jesus, trusting that He was in control. She took her hardest hit when Michael passed in 2008 from a brain tumor. She never grew bitter or angry and always trusted that she would see Mike again, and she did so yesterday morning, Thanksgiving Day. How perfect. It is possible she has stopped hugging Mike by now, maybe. If so she will be visiting with the many loved ones in heaven who are now hearing her laughter again and are following it to the light in the center...there they will find Christ, and Sue will be there with Him.
