Stephan Hauer's Obituary
Stephan Hauer (79) a long-time resident of San Bernardino County, passed away on January 5, 2011. Born in Mitrovica, Yugoslavia, Stephan immigrated to the USA in 1950 and worked for a steel company in Fontana, Ca. In 1956 he married his wife of 55 years Mary Jane Hauer. After much saving and hard work Stephan realized his goal of starting his own business, Hauer Steel Inc. in 1958. Because of his quality work and reputation of building excellence, Stephan built much of the steel buildings in the Inland Empire including the steel fabrication of nearly all of the Stater Brothers Markets. His company continued to serve the area for 50 years until his retirement in 2008.
Stephan was affiliated for 15 years with Lighthouse of the Blind in San Bernardino where he was a past president and board member. He was a 30 year member of the #836 B.P.o.Elks Lodge, and past 25 year member of the Arrowhead Country. Stephan was past president of Allied Construction Industry and past president of Inland Empire Boy Scouts of America and was named “Boss of the Year” 1989-90 by the National Association of Women In Construction.
Survivors include: Wife Mary Jane Hauer; Sons; Ralph, Karl, and Steven and his wife, Mihaela, as well as Grandson, Kory and Brother Toni Hauer of Serbia.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at 12:00 PM at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel 1299 E Highland Ave., San Bernardino. There will be a reception at the 836 B.P.o. Elks Lodge in San Bernardino following services.
