Sofia Chase's Obituary
Sofia Cuellar Chase passed away peacefully on June 26, 2021 in Yucaipa, of natural causes. She was 85. She lived in many places including Nevada, Oregon, Georgia and Canada but she lived most of her life in Muscoy. She lived the last 19 months in Yucaipa.
She was born Sept 30, 1935 in San Bernardino, to Elogio and Mena Cuellar.
As a hard-working single parent of 4 boys, she worked many different jobs. She did odd jobs such as cleaning and cooking in people’s homes, waitressing and fast-food taco and hamburger stands. She also owned and ran a bar called the HIDEOUT on Baseline in San Bernardino. Then she went onto owning and driving an 18-wheeler diesel truck. She also worked for the San Bernardino School District as a Bi-linguist. For the last 35 years, she dedicated her life to raising and being a care-giver to a special needs child.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers, Richard and Manuel Cuellar, two of her sons, Cipriano Perez and Robert Chase and her special needs child, Maria Macias. Survivors include her two sons, Erminio Perez Jr. and Timothy D. Fitzgerald and Daughter-in-laws, June Perez, Diane Fitzgerald and Catherine Chase. She also had grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sorely missed by family and friends.
