Shoshana Anne Simon's Obituary
Shoshana Anne Simon died of complications from her cancer treatment on June 3rd, 2017.
She leaves behind a devastated family and a world much poorer for her passing. We hold on to the memory of Shoshana’s warm smile, great hugs, and whimsical sense of humor. Her kindness and deep compassion found homes in the love of her family and friends - as well as stray dogs and cats. Her brilliant mind, sharp wit, and love of wordplay will be sorely missed.
As an Attorney at Law, Shoshana co-founded the bankruptcy law firm Simon & Simon with her husband William J. Simon. After retirement she became an avid volunteer, sharing her time with the Humane Society, her synagogue, Loma Linda University Medical Center, and other charitable activities. She was a wonderful friend: caring, motivational, a patient listener, and a procurer of thoughtful, sometimes humorous advice on request
Shoshana was born in New York City on July 28th, 1944. She attended the University of California at Berkeley, Davis: the University of the Pacific and the University of California at Riverside and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in English. She was a social worker for the County of Riverside and oversaw the implementation of their Medi-Cal program. She earned her Juris Doctorate at the University of La Verne. She was an avid reader, a beader, a knitter, and a fantastic watercolor painter.
She is survived by her husband William J. Simon, her son Jeffrey Simon, his wife Anne Simon and their daughter Alyssa; her daughter Rena Galvez, her husband Felipe Galvez and their daughter Eleanor; and her son Michael Simon, his wife Shawna and their sons Aaron and Benjamin. Her brother Chip Mackenzie and his wife MaryEllen, and her sister Marjie Echols.
