Shirley Yvonne Latner's Obituary
Shirley Yvonne Latner of Highland California passed away peacefully at home on November 2,2021. She was 88 years old. Shirley was born in Big Spring, Texas to her parents Valera and Harold Lytle, on August 2, 1933. With her family, she moved to California in 1940, attended Lincoln elementary and Sturgis Jr. High School. Shirley graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1952, then attended San Bernardino Valley College for secretarial training. She worked at Chris’ Five and Dime while in high school on schoolwork permit. Later, she worked for General Tire, the Registrar of Voters, and the local nursery school. She was an active member of the Del Rosa PTA. Shirley enjoyed reading, traveling and being with her many friends. She also enjoyed gardening, and orchids were her favorite. She was a member of Rainbow Girls and Calvary Baptist Church. Shirley lived in Valencia Lea Mobil Home park for 17 years, was a past council member, and arranged travel trips for the park. She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Valera Lytle, sister Beverly Boerner, husband of 58 years Frank Latner, and grandchildren Brandy and Frankie Smith. Shirley is survived by her eldest son Brian Latner and his son John, daughter Val Latner and her child T.J., son Michael Latner, his wife Christina, and their children Violet and Chase, daughter by choice Carie Brockus, third son Ryan Clark, and a hoard of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Bobbitt Memorial Chapel of San Bernardino will be directing private graveside services. Pastor Michael Giordano will be officiating.
