Sharon J. Waters

Sharon Waters passed away peacefully in her home on August 25. She was surrounded by her family. Sharon was born in El Paso, Texas on May 7, 1942 to Chuck and Dorothy Henson. Eventually, the family moved to San Bernardino where Sharon attended Arrowview Junior High School and San Bernardino High School—graduating class of 1960. Before Sharon married, she worked at the San Bernardino County Courthouse as a secretary. She married Bill Emery in October of 1961, and they had two daughters. Sharon had an exemplary work ethic, and she was a superb speller and grammarian, having learned these qualities from her dad. She went on to instill these cornerstones of communication to her daughters and their children. Family and friends of Sharon knew how deeply and sincerely she loved them. One of her favorite times of the year was Easter, when family gathered at her house for a beautifully set table, springtime dishes, games, and laughter. Each summer, Sharon looked forward to her weeks-long vacations in Newport Beach with extended family, the sun, sand, ocean, Charlie’s Chili, Rodger’s Nursery, and Fashion Island. She also enjoyed flowers and plants, reading, jigsaw puzzles, music, and her dog, Maizy. On a blind date on December 1, 1990, she found someone with whom to share all that she loved. Gary Waters and Sharon married on February 15, 1997. They lived in Highland. Gary and Sharon enjoyed several amazing trips, both inside and outside of America. They often reminisced together about the scenery, artwork, food, or jackpots that they had experienced during their vacations. A beautiful woman, inside and out, Sharon leaves a legacy of love for those who were blessed to know her. Sharon is survived by her husband, Gary; daughters Julie Avila and Sue Daniels; sons-in-law Joe Avila and David Daniels; sister Gayle Richerts (Jim); brother Chuck Henson (Peggy) and nephews Matt and Scott; grandchildren Brian Avila (Hailey), Eric Avila (Hailey), Katie Sao Marcos (Steven), Kayla Daniels, and Abigail Daniels; great grandchildren Garrett, Wesley, Lucas, Dominic, Zion, Madden, and Kingsley. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel. A private graveside service will be held at Montecito Memorial Park.
