Sandra Jane Mejia's Obituary
Sandra Jane Mejia 1944-2023
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Sandra Jane Mejia, a cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She peacefully passed away on February 15, 2023, at the age 79 in Escondido, CA, surrounded by her loving family.
Sandra was born on February 9, 1944, in Aberdeen, South Dakota to George Leslie and Buehal Ellen Buoye Anton. She was preceded in death by her beloved brothers, Vincent and Patrick. Sandra lived in South Dakota, Bellflower, San Bernardino, Highland, and San Diego.
In 1962, Sandra married Robert Mejia, with whom she shared 48 years of marriage before his passing in 2010. Together, they built a beautiful life and owned a successful RV Storage and Service business. Sandra was a devoted mother to their four children, whom she loved with all her heart.
As the matriarch of her family, Sandra’s kind, loving, and supportive presence will be deeply missed. She enjoyed creating cherished memories by hosting and attending family events and was always there to offer a listening ear, a story about her family, or a helping hand. Sandra was an active member of St. Adelaide Parish, where she participated in many church events and activities, including RCIA, being a eucharistic minister, volunteering at the school, and helping with the annual carnival.
In addition to her family and church, Sandra and her husband enjoyed traveling and exploring the country in their RV. She relished the freedom and adventure that came with being on the open road and exploring new places.
Sandra will be deeply missed by her children, Lisa (Tim) Kelly, Leslie (Paul) Grossman, Ladonna (Jeff) Lambert, and Robert (Michelle) Mejia, her grandchildren, Kersten, Karissa, Jennifer, Megan, Michael, Thomas, Patrick, Courtney, and Kyle, her great grandchildren, Avery, Nolan, Korbyn, Madeleine, Mackenzie, Ryan, Harrison, and Nathan, and her many friends and loved ones.
Visitation will be held March 15, 2023, from 4-6 pm followed by a Rosary Recitation at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel – 1299 E Highland Avenue, San Bernardino, CA. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on March 16, 2023, 11 am at St. Adelaide Catholic Church – 27457 E Baseline Avenue, Highland, CA. Burial will follow at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery – 3510 E Washington Street, Colton, CA.
The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Adelaide Catholic Church in Sandra’s memory. Sandra’s passing has left a deep void in the hearts of all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed.
