Sandra Kay Brasher's Obituary
Sandra went home to be with the Lord on May 29, 2025, at the age of 79. She was born in West Virginia and moved to Southern California with her parents when was five years old.
Sandra graduated from Eisenhower High School in Rialto and then attended University of Redlands. While participating in U of R’s study abroad program to Salzburg, Austria, she met the love of her life Mr. Gail Brasher, an American soldier stationed in Germany. They married in 1966 and ten years later gave birth to their daughter Natalie.
They remained happily married until his death in 2005. Sandra was a secondary school English teacher for over twenty years before becoming a high school counselor for the last 13 years of her life.
After retiring, she began to volunteer for a nonprofit called Angel’s Closet until health issues prevented her from doing so.
Sandra was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in San Bernardino for many decades and both taught children’s Sunday school and worked with the youth group.
She was also a member of Chapter M.S. of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. Additionally, Sandra was a lifelong avid sports fan and had season tickets for three local Community theatres.
Sandra will be greatly missed by all those who knew her and were blessed to experience her nurturing and loving heart. Helping kids to see their own potential and to believe in themselves was her great passion, and as a result, she was beloved by her students.
Her Christian faith inspired every decision she made, and serving others was a way she lived out her faith. She leaves behind an uncle, Richard Sheets of Ohio, her daughter Natalie Brasher of Redlands, her beloved dog Buster, cousins, and many close friends.
A graveside service will be held Monday, June 23rd at 10am at Riverside National Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life Celebration at Valencia Lea Mobile Home Park’s Anderson Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Angel’s Closet, the charity Sandra supported for well over a decade.
