SAM GENE HENLEY's Obituary
Sam Gene Henley, 78, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2008 in Avalon, California.
Sam was a San Bernardino High School graduate and earned his Masters Degree in Business Administration from Pepperdine University, Bachelors Degree from San Diego State University. He served in the US Air Force for 30 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Sam continued working as CEO for the San Bernardino Economic Development Council, CEO for the San Bernardino Valley Board of Realtors and CEO for the San Bernardino Chamber of Commerce. He also worked for Bourns of Riverside and was Past-President of the San Bernardino Rotary Club and Past-Vice-President of the Inland Empire Chapter of the Distinguished Flying Cross Society.
Sam is survived by his beloved wife, Myrtle; son, David Gene (Regan) of Guffey, CO; daughter, Christine Perkins (Eugene L.) of Riverside; Brother, John A. Henley (Jill) of San Bernardino; three grandchildren, Tamara Perkins, Stephanie Perkins and Alex Henley and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Jack D. and Robert L. Henley.
A visitation will be held Monday, July 7, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and a funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 8, at 10:00 a.m., both at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Avenue. A reception will follow at Arrowhead Country Club. Interment services will be held at 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, Staging Area # 4.
