ROSIE JULIA LEON's Obituary
Rosie J. Leon (Rose), 63, a long-time resident of Highland, CA, passed away September 25, 2007, after her courageous battle with cancer. Rose passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Rose was born in Julesburg, CO, on February 4, 1944, to Katie (Sosa) Smith and Julio Sosa. Raised in Riverside, CA, by her mother Katie and stepfather William C. Smith, she graduated from Poly High School. Six years later while working fashion retail she met her husband of 39 years, Angel Leon. Rose was employed with Security Pacific Bank as a Loan Manager in San Bernardino for 12 years. Soon after, Rose and her husband ventured out to fulfill their dreams of being successful business owners and built San Bernardino Towing in Highland. After 15 years of placing her heart and soul into tireless days, she retired to devote her time to her husband and family. Rose was an active member and volunteer of St. Adelaide’s Church. She had many hobbies, which included being team mom for Lisa and Rachel’s softball team, traveling, photography, shopping, and spending precious time singing and dancing with her grandchildren. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mom, grandma and friend. Rose showed us all the true importance of love, kindness and family values. She will forever be loved in our hearts, always be missed, but never forgotten, by her adoring family and by all who knew her. Rose is survived by her husband Angel Leon of Highland, her mother Katie Smith of Riverside, her sister Marylou Campos of San Jacinto, her sister Shirley McGowan of San Bernardino and her sister Emily Lindeman of Colorado. Rose leaves behind her two wonderful daughters, Lisa Cupersmith and her husband Gary Cupersmith of Highland, and Rachel Zerbe and her husband Chad Zerbe of Highland. Rose dedicated her time loving and caring for her 5 grandchildren, Frank Gonzales Jr., Alexis and Lindsey Cupersmith, Syrah and Nevin Zerbe of Highland and 4 step grandchildren Belinda, Angelica and David Morales, and Matthew Ginther of Riverside. A Rosary will be held at 3pm, Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007 at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Ave., San Bernardino, CA. Mass services will be held on Monday, Oct. 1, 2007 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Adelaide’s Church, 27457 Baseline Ave., Highland, CA, followed by a “Celebration of Life” reception.
