Rosemary Pauline Easley's Obituary
Rosemary Pauline D’Amato Easley, 85, passed away peacefully at home. Rosemary was born in Youngstown, Ohio, to Nicola “Nicholas” D’Amato and Palma Mazziotta. She was the youngest of nine children and both parents passed away before she was 15 years of age. Shortly thereafter, she came to Fontana, California to live with her sister and brother-in-law, Minnie and Steve Sakas, attended Chaffey High School (Class of 1953) and was football homecoming queen there. She held several jobs as an office supply store clerk, bank teller, and as assistant to Mr. Leslie Harris of the Harris’ Department Store before taking on her most cherished position as a mother. She was an amazing sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, GG (great-grandmother) and role model. She loved to cook, and enjoyed fine foods. Mainly, she loved to make holidays special by creating happy memories for her family and friends. She enjoyed attending all the sporting and art events of her children and grandchildren. She was a die-hard Lakers fan during the Kobe Bryant era too. Rosemary was a volunteer in the surgical recovery room at St. Bernardine’s for many years, enjoyed fashion and interior design. She kept her mind sharp by doing several crossword puzzles each day and keeping up on politics. She will be dearly missed and remembered fondly by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Rosemary’s beloved husband of 58 years, William Easley, was killed in 2014, and she is survived by their five children, Stephen Easley (Lauri) of Highland and their children Lauren and Stephen, David Easley of San Bernardino, Patricia Rhodes (Scott) of Rogersville, MO, and their children, Taylor Eaton, Kenny, Justin and Jacob Rhodes, Susan Stewart (Matthew) of Highland and their daughter, Samantha, John Easley (Stacey) of Highland and their children, Christopher and Chandler; two great-grandchildren, William Greyson and Remy Rose. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Nicola and Palma D’Amato, sisters Angeline Lavanty, Domenica “Minnie” Sakas, Nora D’Amato, Josephine Covelli, and brothers, Vincenzo “James,” Anthony, Antonio, and Sam D’Amato.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, June 1st at 11:00 AM at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 East Highland Avenue, San Bernardino, CA. 92404. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, attendance is limited. The services will be streamed live from the Bobbitt Memorial Chapel Facebook page and will also be recorded and posted later to Rosemary’s memorial page on Facebook. Interment will be standing room only at Montecito Memorial Park at 1:00PM.
