ROSALIE (LEA) MARION HICKS's Obituary
Rosalie (Lea) Marion Crivello Hicks, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother entered into rest with our Lord on 17 January 2009. She was a native of Monterey, California, and a resident of Redlands, California, since 2004. A devout Catholic, she was a parishioner at St. Adelaide's Catholic Church of Highland. Lea was born in Monterey to Orazio Crivello and Catherine Aiello. In 1944, she met and married Lt. James M. Hicks in Monterey. As the wife of an Army officer, she had the opportunity to travel throughout the U.S., and at each duty station she quickly put down roots, established a loving home, and made lifelong friends. She devoted her life with love and joy to her husband, children and family and brought special blessings to others by sharing her joy, wisdom, support, and laughter. She was cherished by her family and friends, and her loving spirit, extraordinary charm, and beautiful smile will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her warm nature easily captured the hearts of people, and she was renowned for her creative talents, joy of entertain ing and especially her culinary expertise. She was blessed with a generous nature and a kind, forgiving heart. Her caring character extended beyond her family to a variety of stray animals that found their way to her doorstep. Lea had a deep appreciation for music that was reflected in years of study and accomplishment on the organ. Her musical talent gave her a special voice that she enjoyed sharing with others. Lea also took great pride in her Italian heritage and was a won derful listener and gifted storyteller who entertained her grandchildren with engaging family stories that only an Italian Nana could so lovingly share; with wit, humor and love, her stories brought to life the days and the people of her youth. As a young woman, she at tended classes at Mills College in Oakland, CA, and was a nursery school teach er for several years. Later, as her children were grow ing, she was active in the PTA. For many years, she was an active participant in the Roland Organ Club. She also served as the recording secretary for the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus, Del Rosa branch in Highland. The love of life that Lea Hicks brought to everyone, and the positive impact she has had on many lives will forever be remembered by those privileged to have known her. She will be gone from our sight but will remain in our hearts, thanks to the wonderful memories she leaves behind. Lea was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, James Hicks, parents, Orazio and Catherine Crivello, sister, Rose Sobania and brothers, John, Joseph, Neno, and Vincent Crivello. She is survived by her son, James II and wife, Diane; daughter, Lea Reedy and husband, John, daughter, Joan Goss; grandchildren, Vanessa, Jason, Nathan, Nicole, and Derek; great- grandchildren, Gage, Kaylee, and Samantha; and many nieces and nephews. A Visitation will be at Bob bitt's from 5 to 7 P.M., Monday, Jan. 26, 2009. A Rosary will be recited on Monday at 6:30 P.M. at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Ave., San Bernardino, CA. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, at St. Adelaide Catholic Church, 27457 Baseline, Highland, CA. Interment will follow at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, CA,
