I knew and served under LtCol Z at USAFA in the early 80’s as a 2Lt. He was an unconventional officer, but one of those few who made the greatest impact on my approach to being a career officer for 20+ years. A better mentor I never found. His greatest gift to me was to put me in positions to learn and fail. And when I did fail he always took the time to dissect “what happened “, and learn from it. He was fiercely loyal to his young officers. I’ve wondered over the years what happened to him and found this today. I’m saddened for the families loss. Proud and glad I knew this man. Dear Nita,Ronnie, Kara and Darren
We are so taken away at the mews of Ron's passing. He was a good, if uncivil :), engineer, father and roomy and friend. We certainly had our times! Sharp as a whit, he was always good for a funny story or a good line. We will miss him dearly.

Dear Nita, Darren, Ronnie and Kara,
I am very sorry for the loss of "Uncle Ron". I have so many fond memories of him. I remember being 5 years old talking to him on Ravenwood Ave.and being 20 years old and losing a bet to him over the Dallas Cowboys! He was a great , fun guy! I will miss him. Dear Nita and family... I am saddened to hear of Ron's passing. Although I was younger than the guys (Tom, Jack, Lee, etc.) he hung out with, I do have fond memories of his kindness. Growing up in that small neighborhood was a great experience, made better by knowing good guys like Ron. I will miss him. Linda, Nita & family,

Dear Nita and family,
So sorry to read about Ron's passing. I have so many great memories of knowing him from our youth at Trinity and the Scout Troop. He and I shared a lot in the Scouts, including a memorable hike from Trinity to Camp Cone, only to be told by my Uncle Jennings (Hardy) that we had only hiked about 22 miles and had to walk back to a 25-mile mark. Also, on a camping trip where everyone else brought ordinary stuff to eat and Ron brought a dutch-oven and baked a cherry pie! Our hearts go out to you and your family, and we will remember Ron in our prayers. By the way, Jennings Hardy also passed away last month at the age of 96. He was a resident of the Va. Masonic Home for many years, and passed away peacefully in his sleep.

Dear Zwolinski Family--

We always enjoyed chatting with Ron at soccer games over the years. His interesting sense of humor always added a refreshing touch at the games. Kristi did a superb job in sharing words of remembrance about her Grandpa at the funeral. It is very difficult getting up in front of a group when you are close to someone. I wasn't able to stay for the reception to talk to you personally so I am sending an e-mail.
