Roger Severino Espiritu's Obituary
In loving memory of Roger Severino Espiritu, born on December 27, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois, who peacefully passed away on June 26, 2024, in San Bernardino, California. Roger was a longtime resident of San Bernardino and a retired Lieutenant Colonel with the US Air Force. Post-military, Roger retired from the San Bernardino Economic Development Department. He was a devoted husband, cherished father, doting grandfather, and adored great-grandfather, leaving behind a legacy of love and wisdom that touched the lives of all who knew him.
Roger was a proud member of St. Adelaide Church, where his faith was a cornerstone of his life. His passion for gardening brought him peace and joy, and he delighted family and friends with his culinary prowess and love for fishing and sports. His passion for the ‘The Sport Of Kings’ and his camaraderie with the 38th Bomb Wing Reunion Group from Lyon, France, were sources of great happiness throughout his life.
Roger had a unique ability to listen intently to everyone's aspirations and dreams, offering sage advice seasoned with his trademark humor and sensibility. Roger shared many valuable life lessons through his stories of travel and experience. He had a deep appreciation for music, various artistic craftsmanship and enjoyed collecting.
Roger is survived by his four children, [Steven, Jeffrey, Susan and Michael], seven grandchildren [Donya, Marisa, Lance, Darren, Alexa, Justin and Jared], and six great-grandchildren [Ashlyn, Dylan, Trevor, Sean, Amelie and Anderson]. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marilyn J Espiritu. Roger's presence will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends, but his spirit will continue to inspire us all. May he rest in peace, knowing he left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever live on in our hearts.
A private memorial service to celebrate Roger's life will be held for family, where he will be laid to rest with military honors on July 17, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Riverside National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Roger's honor. His spirit of giving and dedication shall continue to inspire all who knew him.
