Col. USAF Ret. Robert J. Temple's Obituary
Passed away on February 14, 2013, keeping his promise to his second wife, Jacqueline Volkart Temple, that he would “make it to his 92nd birthday.” One of four children, Bob was born in Washburn, Wisconsin, to Celia Green Temple and Wallace Basil Temple. After high school, Bob married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Bjork (a marriage lasting 47 years) and joined the Air Force where he completed pilot training. He served 30 years in the Air Force as a Command Pilot of B-47s and B-52s, as the Chief of Standardization and an Inspector General within Strategic Air Command. Colonel Temple retired from Norton Air Force Base in 1972 after tours in Alabama, California, Florida, Louisiana, Japan, Michigan, Okinawa, Texas, Thailand, and Washington DC.
Bob is survived by his wife of 20 years, Jackie; his daughter Barbara (Bobbi) Simenton; daughter Betty McLaughlin; son Robert Jay (Monica); son James Alan (Mary Jane) Temple; and step-son Lowell (Holly)Trask; grandchildren Jeffrey (Kimberly) and Scott (Shana) Simenton; Jennifer and Jessica Temple; Terri, Christopher (Jayda), Patrick, and Jim (Torrey) McLaughlin; step-grandchildren Terri (Tim) Mobley and William Holton; and 12 great grandchildren.
Bob was truly blessed to have been loved and cared for by two wonderful women, Marilyn and Jackie. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and will be deeply missed by all of us.

With a deep and abiding belief in the importance of duty, honor, country, God, and a commitment to service, Bob now takes his last “High Flight….Going West.”
