Obituary for Robert E. Smith
Short version for The Sun
Robert E. Smith (Bob), 79, passed away Tuesday, March 23rd, at Wildwood Canyon Villas in Yucaipa. Bob Smith was a lifelong resident of San Bernardino and Highland. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Bob Smith graduated San Bernardino High in 1948 and married Barbara Spilsbury in 1950. He started work with the Gas Company in 1952 and worked there until a medical disability retirement in 1987. He started as a meter reader then progressed through the company as a computer operator to the supervisor level.
The family members who will miss him and will always have wonderful memories of him: his daughters and son-in-laws, Kerri and Mike House, Lee Anne and Rick Bunnell and Laurie and Randy Frymire, his grandchildren Peter (and spouse Becca), Brian, Megan and Julie Bunnell, and his great-grandchildren Weston and Sierra (son and daughter of Peter and Becca).
Those who knew Bob and his family are invited to attend his viewing which will be held at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Ave., San Bernardino, CA on Friday, March 26th from 5 pm to 8 pm and a crypt side service will follow at Mt. View Cemetery, 570 E. Highland Ave., San Bernardino, CA on Saturday, March 27th at 10:00 am.
Bob loved animals and often took doggy treats on his walks in the neighborhood.
