Robert F. Latham, 84, of San Bernardino passed away Wednesday June 12, 2013.
Robert grew up in Manchester, GA. and graduated from Manchester High. During WW II he was too young for military service but did work for several years at the Brunswick Shipyards aiding the war effort. Following the war he returned to Manchester and obtained employment as a pipe-fitter for Calloway Mills.
He married his longtime sweetheart Virginia Joyce Hunter who preceded him in death in 2008. They had a long and happy marriage lasting more than 50 years.
Robert joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and served more than 20 years as an aircraft repair and maintenance specialist obtaining the rank of Master Sgt. Much of Robert's Air Force service time was in California and he retired to the area. Robert is survived by a brother, Dennis of Orlando, Fl., a sister-in-law Barbara Barthoumes of Spokane, Wash, and niece Dr. Anya Consiglion also of Spokane, Washington.
In lieu of flowers the family would request that donations in Robert's name be made to the American Red Cross disaster relief fund.
