It's hard for me to state just how much Bob meant to so many writers, how generous he was with his time and his abilities. I posted elsewhere that Bob was sort of a mentor to me, probably without his even realizing it. He guest edited the 17th issue of SmokeLong Quarterly, and the careful consideration and (in many cases) very specific line edits that he gave to each submission showed how deeply he loved and respected writers everywhere. I doubt that the writers who submitted their work for that issue will ever know just how much Bob gave to them. I do know, however, how much it meant to me, and what a lesson in humility, love, and generosity it was.
Over the years, Zoetrope (the online writing workshop many writers frequent) has lost some of its members too early, but never has there been a passing that left such a hole in our collective hearts as Bob's, while at the same time leaving our hearts so much fuller than we could have imagined for the time we had with him.
We love you, Bob. You are deeply, deeply missed.##imported-begin##Dave Clapper##imported-end##
