When I was told Ricky was now in heaven, I felt sorrow for those left behind but joy for him. I last saw him when I went to the visitation for his mother and he was still fighting the cancer but anyone looking at him could see a special light and peace in his eyes that told you he knew what was to soon come and was prepared for it. Grief is something all of us will face as our loved ones go on before us. Please know that I understand this grief all too well and that all of you are in my prayers and thoughts.

I worked at the NCO Academy with Ricky in the early eighties. From the time of his arrival at the school it was obvious that the school had gained a most valuable person. As a co-worker, teacher and friend, he was alwas there when needed. Ricky and Carol were active members of the "Academy Family", and Donna and I missed their friendship when we retired and moved to Arizona. We will always remember Ricky and know he will never be forgotten by his many friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

My condolences to the Nelson family. The time I spent as an instructor at the NCO Academy was the best time of my military career, and Ricky was an important part of that time. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, but I know the day will come we will meet at the feet of Jesus.
