Richard Erwin Lewis' Obituary
We are sad to announce the passing of Richard E. Lewis on June 16th at the age of 90.
He was born in Schenectady NY. He then moved to Binghamton, NY until he was a senior in high school at which time the family moved to Orlando, Fla. Upon completion of high school he joined the Navy in 1949. He spent the next 9 years with the Navy there he met and married Imogene Stebbins. While in the Navy two sons were born. In 1958 he quit the Navy and joined the Air Force as he was tired of being away from the family for months at a time. After a year he and his family were sent to Japan where his daughter was born. He retired in San Bernardino after 24 years of service.
After retirement he started working at Sears, working between the tool department and furniture. He started volunteering at Saint Bernardine’s medical center where he spent 20 years. while working as a volunteer he held the position of president of the auxiliary for 2 years.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 24 years and two sons. He is survived by a daughter Denise Clemmer, son in law Patrick Clemmer, granddaughter Dawn Lewis and great grandsons Xander and Xavier.
His services will be on July 12th at 11 am at Riverside National Cemetery.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
