Richard F. Gerwig's Obituary
Richard F Gerwig, 92, passed away at St. Bernardine Medical Center in San Bernardino on July 4, 2012. Originally from Auburn IN, Dick had lived in San Bernardino for the past 60 years. He was a Lieutenant Commander (Ret) in the United States Navy; served during WWII and was a Pearl Harbor Survivor.
He worked as an Air Safety Investigator for the United States Air Force for 22 years. Dick was former City Councilman for the 4th Ward, was a pilot for 53 years and a member of The Order of Daedalians.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gene who passed in 2001.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Gerwig, his three sons Richard (Anita) Gerwig Adams, John (Mariann) Gerwig and Gary Gerwig. Also surviving him are his 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held today at 12:00 p.m. with a visitation 1 hour prior at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Ave. San Bernardino, CA 92404.
A graveside service will be held on Friday July 13, 2012 at 9:45 a.m. Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, CA 92518.
