My heartfelt and sincere thanks to all of you for your emails. Please feel free to email me at my regular email address.
I am, of course, devastated at Rick's death. He was so very ill and on kidney dialysis, and it just didn't do what we'd hoped it would.
Rick knew this was coming. He said nothing to anyone but set about getting his affairs in order for me, so I wouldn't have to do it. He did all the work and preparation for Probate. He even left a few instructions for me.
I love him so deeply and hurt so much inside when he was sick and suffering. I'd cry on the way home from his house and get angry and pound the steering wheel while I asked.
Why? Why? Why?
Rick was one of the finest people I knew. His integrity with enormous. He wasn't demonstrative, and didn't say the actual words, but his love for his family and friends was boundless.
I'll always remember Rick slipping a $20 bill into the money can of a little girl selling lemonaide outside Dad's the day we had an estate sale. She didn't see him do it and started screaming and showing it to everyone. Rick stood back with a huge smile as he watched her. When she ran up to show him, he said, "Wow, that's a lot of lemonade.
Rick was the FIRST to step out to help someone. And, always silently. He loved hearing someone's good news, and would rejoyce and celebrate with them.
To those of you who loved him and knew him well - thank you. To those who are newer friends - I also thank you.
You had a remarkable and wonderful friend.
And, to my beloved brother, Rick, I will always, ALWAYS love you deeply and miss you every day of my life.
Until we meet again in heaven .....
Margo
