I first met Dick Browning in the early 80’s when I became a Train Dispatcher for Santa Fe.
From the beginning, I realized that he had his own unique sense of humor.
You just had to love him.
He always enjoyed a good joke and usually had one to tell. Off-color, usually, but uniquely Dick.
Dick was good-hearted and would give you the shirt off his back.
You would have to listen to his opinions about it though, while he helped you, but he’d still help you.
He was always looking out for his kids, and was unconditionally proud of them.
I think Dick also knew it took a special woman to be with him and understand him. That’s probably why on more than one occasion he referred to Penny as a Saint.
Dick loved life and he enjoyed it.
I’m sure when he arrived in heaven, God told him there would be no cheating at golf in heaven and Dick probably said he wouldn’t need to until Frank got there.
I’m sure there are lots of Dick Browning stories out there and maybe with the telling of these stories, we can keep him close to our heart.
I’m going to miss you Dick. There’s just no one else like you. You were truly one of a kind and I’m proud to have known you.
