Rex Paul Hollidy's Obituary
Rex was born in Redlands, California. He attended Redlands schools and graduated from Redlands High School in 1953. He resided in Mentone, California.
Shortly after he graduated, he joined the Navy and served for four years and later joined the Air Force where he became an aircraft mechanic.
He attended San Bernardino Valley College, Mt. Palamar College in San Marcos, and Cal State San Bernardino.
Rex worked several jobs, including for San Bernardino County and the Alhambra School District. He also worked as a boat mechanic.
Rex was married for a short time but had no children.
He was an avid reader, and loved history, science and nature. He also enjoyed camping, hiking and road trips around the U.S., especially to the national parks. He, at one time, was a member of the Sierra Club.
After moving to Arizona, near Prescott, where he lived for many years, he moved to Mentone in 2015.
Rex is preceded in passing by his father Paul Max Hollidy, his mother Hazel Hollidy Higdon, his sister Marcella Hollidy Hollie, and brothers Terry and Don Higdon. All from Redlands.
He is survived by his sisters, Nancy Higdon Nielsen and Jean Higdon Timmerman of Redlands, and many nieces and nephews.
He is being laid to rest at the National Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Riverside.
There will be no services, just a small family gathering to celebrate his life.
