Father Joe was born on February 14, 1924, in Gyor, Hungary. His college and seminary education were at St. Martin’s Archabbey in Pannonhalma, Hungary. Shortly afterwards he began his teaching career in San Bernardino at Aquinas High School shortly after its establishment in that same year. In his 1994 letter requesting retirement from Aquinas he writes with gratitude for his teaching ministry: “I have spent all my priestly life working with teenagers as a religion, mathematics and physics teacher”.
