My Dad, Rene Escobar Sr. wore his cowboy hat when I got married in Fresno 40 years ago. The marriage didn't last but the hat did! My Dad, the only man who never let me down.
He was hard working, strong and brave. Although, he was strict for all the right reasons, it taught us to be the BEST! He loved us ALL in his own ways; from the eldest Alma to the youngest Elena in Our Family Tree, a Tree that he and MaMa Josie planted, water and nourished with LOVE. How does one capture 24 years of memories in a brief set of sentences? My husband, Sam, and I met Rene and Josie that many years ago when we bought our first home across the street from the Escobar family. We were all new to the neighborhood and to each other. Rene and Josie turned out to be some of the nicest people you would ever want to meet.

A wave here, a wave there. Always a smile or "Hi, Rene" was the norm as we all rushed about our day. Even taking out the trash was a chance to find out what was going on in the neighborhood. Between Jose (another neighbor and Rene's walking partner) and Rene I felt informed. I will miss seeing him about. A wave here, a wave there. You are now with the Lord.
