Renee Johnson Smalley
I meet Pearl in 1967, when I became friends with Diane in 8th grade. She was truly the nicest, kindest person you could know as a teenager. I was so impressed with her “homemaker” skills, gardening, sewing, cooking “there was no better cook than Pearl.” She went thru a lot of trauma in my life with me. I knew she’d always be there for me, and sheltered me with the loss of my parents. She’d make me fried apples, when I came to visit from Chicago. A calf was born on one of my visits and they named her Renee, I asked that next visit they didn’t serve Renee! You know they were wonderful parents, by the wonderful, thoughtful children they raised, She and Charlie were wonderful people, who were devoted to each other, an example for all of us. Love, Renee Johnson Smalley
