PAULINE ESTELLE MACKZUM's Obituary
Pauline Estelle Mackzum, a brilliant light, died on October 1, 2008. Pauline was born on December 16, 1934 in Fall River, MA, to Alcide and Adrienne Desmarais. Pauline earned her BA in English Literature at Stonehill College and her MA in Education at Bridgewater State College. She taught elementary school for several years in Dartmouth and Fairhaven, MA. A talented teacher, pianist and artist, Pauline ventured to California and began teaching at Fairfax Elementary in San Bernardino. On June 1, 1963, Pauline married Errol J. Mackzum. While devotedly raising the couple’s seven children, Pauline freely volunteered her time to the community.
Throughout her life, Pauline remained committed to learning and giving. As a lifetime learner with endless curiosity, Pauline was called to teaching and instilled the values of study and intellectual growth in her children. Pauline generously helped and supported people, and her contributions were seen in local schools, Catholic churches and community organizations. With an extraordinary capacity for love, Pauline touched the lives of many. Pauline will be remembered and deeply missed by her three brothers, Paul, Marc and Georges, her husband, Errol, her seven children, Adrienne, Paul, Garth, Alex, Jocelyn, Julie and Kent, their seven spouses, her eight grandchildren, as well as many other family members and friends.
A prayer service will be held at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel located at 1299 E. Highland Ave., on Sunday October 5th at 7 p.m. with the visitation beginning at 5 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Hope Church located at 6885 Del Rosa Ave. on Monday October 6th at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Mt. View Cemetery, 570 E. Highland Ave., San Bernardino, California.
