Patricia Hayes' Obituary
Patricia (Pat, Patty Lou) Hayes, a long-time resident of Cedar Glen, passed away on Wednesday the 4th of October with her adoring family at her side in her home in Beaumont, California.
Pat was born Patricia Louise Klein June 29th, 1925 in Aurora, Illinois. She was the eldest of five children including two sisters, Judy Hartigan and Georgie Peterson, and two brothers, Tommy and Phil. During her frequent trips to Los Angeles, California she was introduced by her cousin to Hoyt "Jerry" Hayes. After Jerry returned from the Pacific, they were married in Los Angeles in 1947.
Pat and Jerry made a home in the San Fernando Valley where they had five children: Sandy Lavin (1948), Edward Hayes (1949), Michael Hayes (1956), Monica Trainer (1958) and Dennis Hayes (1960). They later moved to Lake Arrowhead in 1971 and their family was joined by four grandchildren: Jason Olson, Beverly Nava, Madison Giaccopuzzi, and Willow Hayes. Who all fondly referred to her as their ‘G-mama’.
Pat was very tightly knit into the mountain community and was a regular volunteer at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and Mountains Community Hospital Auxiliary. Even after she moved to Beaumont in 2012, she still kept her home in Cedar Glen and the mountains were always in her heart.
She is survived by her sister Georgie in Illinois, all of her children, grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and son-in-law Joseph Trainer, all of whom brought her great joy in her later years.
Bobbitt Memorial Chapel in San Bernardino has been entrusted with her arrangements and a mass will be held for her at Our Lady of the Lake on Friday the 8th of December, at 10AM and, later that day, she will be laid to rest at the Riverside National Cemetery alongside her husband, Jerry. A small reception will follow the burial service.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Mountains Community Hospital Auxiliary in Patricia’s memory.
